Bridges and implants

Dental bridges are one means of replacing lost teeth. They work by fixing a false crown or pontic onto its neighbouring retainer teeth. The retainer teeth are also crowned to allow for a secure attachment that is cemented into place. This is a particularly useful means of restoring the dentition especially when the neighbouring teeth are heavily filled.

Crowns (caps)

All porcelain dental crowns are provided with the best natural colour match, more so than any other crown type and may be more suitable for people with allergies to metals. If your tooth has been broken, damaged or suffered from decay or even has an unsightly large filling then crowns are ideal for restoration for improved aesthetics. Porcelain crowns are an excellent choice for front teeth.

Dental Implant

Dental implants are the modern way to replace missing teeth and it can provide a longer-term solution and will help preserve nearby healthy tooth tissue. Dental implants look and feel so natural, you could forget you even lost a tooth! It is important to have good bone health for implants to be successful.

Patients suffering with the following conditions; heart disease, renal failure, hypertension or those whom smoke may not be suitable for dental implants.

Porcelain Crowns and Veneers

A porcelain dental crown is a tooth-shaped "cap" which is placed over the tooth to cover the tooth in order to restore its shape, size and strength. The tooth will also benefit from an improved appearance and a natural look.

Composite/White Restorations

If your old fillings are unsightly or stained and are visible when you smile, they can be made almost invisible with a tooth coloured composite restoration.

Crowns and Bridges

To prepare a tooth for a veneer, your dentist will remove about 1/2 millimetre of enamel from the stained or damaged tooth surface. This is nearly equal to the thickness of the veneer that will be added to the tooth's surface.

Prior to trimming the enamel, your dentist and you will decide whether there is a need for a local anaesthetic to numb the area. Your dentist will then make a model or take an impression of your tooth to be sent out to a dental laboratory. The dental laboratory use this model to construct your veneer

Children

We strive to offer a professional range of dental services for children and adults in a friendly environment. We understand that children and adults have different needs and priorities, which we strive to address. We here at Nayland dental and Cosmetic Clinic have extensive experience working with children and will try to make their dental experience more enjoyable. Our policy is to see children for a free examination subject to parent(s) being fee-paying patients of the practice, up to the age of eight years. All other treatments will paid for at a reduced rate.

Hygienists

Our qualified Dental Hygienist is available for preventative treatment and oral hygiene advice. The benefits include:

Plaque removal. Tartar and plaque build-up above and below the gum line, can result in serious periodontal problems. Unfortunately, even with a proper home brushing and flossing routine, it can be impossible to remove all the debris, bacteria and deposits from gums. The experienced eye of a dentist or hygienist using specialised dental equipment is necessary to catch a potentially damaging build-up.
Fresher breath. Bad breath (or halitosis) is generally indicative of advancing periodontal disease. A combination of rotting food particles (possibly below the gum line) and potential gangrene stemming from gum infection, results in bad breath. The routine removal of plaque, calculus, and bacteria at our clinic can noticeably improve halitosis and reduce infection.

As a preventive measure, we recommend a dental hygienist visit every six months and every 3 or 4 months for gum disease sufferers. You should be aware that a dental hygienist can’t completely reverse gum disease, but treatment by one can effectively halt its progression.

We offer wide range of Oral Hygiene products at the practice.
